Oh my... That's absolutely amazing! I love the idea, the style, and the vibes I get from playing with all the tuning. I was wondering if the audio is also connected to the tuning I am making with the visuals?

This is sooooo cool
I played your game and was pleasantly surprised by its lovely, beautiful graphics.
Fun to play, and the visual style fits perfectly. The controls feel a little awkward at times
@gamescodedogs It is sort of.... in my initial design i was using the actual oscilation the real life osciloscope that would use to produce this would emenate, but unfortunately it was unlistenable, so i this just uses the harmonics of it as a modulator
This is a neat visual effect! I'm not totally sure what purpose is served by having to adjust the oscilloscope other than making the oscilloscope buttons do anything, though... is it supposed to be a metaphor?
Per [the Compo rules](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules), would you mind sharing the source code for this game and engine with us?
I'd also be curious about the choices you made with regards to the audio generation.
edit: Thanks for adding the source code. I think you should mention somewhere that you used Claude to create the game engine.
@cassowary i didn't realize about the source code! source code is now attached.
the osciloscope coming undone/needing to be recalibrated at each vignette is meant to signify the tenuousness of produced image and tech blahblahblah... if i could do it again id come up with actually designed puzzles for which to use it for
id initially wanted the music to be more dependent on the actual frequencies that would b produced by an oscilator with the wave forms of the images you see but settled for composing a bit of music that changes with each vignette and somewhat responds to detuning the oscilator
the engine is in src/engine, the whole shabang here is just a few ts scripts smashed together w/ the help of llms
I don't want to be rude, but this game felt exactly like this. "Show, don't tell" and you show how you tell. Honestly, I expected seeing actual decline from window of train rather than reading Substack blog and personal chat.
Three main gimmicks were fun for the first couple of times but after that bored me except one time when I was able to walk around the train.
Also, maybe I missed something, but I didn't see a connection between the oscilloscope as a medium and the content of the game.
Apart from that, it was really a beautiful piece. Wish it was utilized better.
Congratz on your first LD-entry! This is a novel with some very well executed graphical effects on top of it. I'm don't really like reading, so I haven't played it all the way until the end. But I do like the effect and I would love to know how you pulled it off 😄
Fascinating technical achievement and atmosphere! Building a custom HTML5 engine to render 3D environments through continuous Fourier curves like a classical oscilloscope is such a wildly unique and ambitious experiment for a 48h Compo. The meditative tone and artistic direction give it a truly memorable feel. Left full ratings! If you have a minute later to check out more jam projects, we’d love if you took a look at our game Meow Bomb as well. Best of luck with the jam!
@ne-aquilon you can walk around the train at anytime if you hit spacebar! i wanted to add more detail to cafes cart and other passengers and etc but ran out of time.
i definitely relied more on shoddy textual than ludic/visual and wished i did not lol. if it didn't come thru clearly i was trying to orbit around the idea of american middle class complexes anxieties needs for self importance in the context of looming class/personal obsolesence rather than the sort of like american gothic decline leftism stuff that i thnk has been played out a lot already, but feel like i came up short when trying to figure out how to map this to actually interesting osciloscope visual puzzles outside of the weak conceptual tie.
