So cool that you made a Playstation game! I like the premise and aesthetics of this one quite a bit. I was able to scan and find two sectors on the global map, but I got a bit stuck on the drones; I could fly them around and drop the blue things, but I wasn't able to work out what they did or what my objective was.
I tried this out on my RGB30. Worked a treat!

@guardaro Nice seeing it running on a handheld like that. I considerd if I was going to tutorialise the deployment stuff, maybe I should make it a bit more obvious. The blue marker are supposed to indicate the direction and distance you need to be searching.

Oh, that makes so much sense! I thought that I was dropping some sort of sensor. I'll try it again later.

Got my first PS emulator running for this (DuckStation, thanks for the tip) and had a blast. I think I've got pretty close to the end, I think I have the message decoded (just did R06) but struggling to find the actual location. Will have to come back to. Really impressive stuff that you've not just made a PS1 game but one that looks good, with quality music and a cool narrative.

What's your setup like for developing this? I'm really curious. I've been tinkering with a C64 recently and that's a load of fun.

I gave it another go and I'm having a lot of fun. The process of "decoding" the messages was really neat. I'm not sure whether I've finished it or not, though. I've found and translated five artifacts (and revealed the shocking truth of the nature of the invaders), and nothing else seems to be showing up on the globe scanner. Have I reached the end?
I love this thing, by the way. The writing is really good, and I like that it's not super hand-holdy; it feels good to poke around and figure things out. Probably the only change that I would make for user-friendliness would be to make the blue direction indicators on the drone portion a bit more visible. When I was flying around at first I didn't realize that they were actually changing as I moved from place to place.
Really cool game!

@liam So there's few differnet PS1 SDK setups. I'm using psyq+nugget which is Sony's old libraries converted to support modern C compilers. There's psn00bsdk which is an open source clone of those libraries. And I know the PSX homebrew community now recommends psyqo which an new C++ SDK. But C++ is not to my tastes and psyqo requires you to build a lot more for yourself. I just have it all setup in VSCode so it builds and launches an emualtor.

@guardaro Glad you went back to the game and enjoyed it. I think you're right I'm going to improve the visibility of the blue indicators on the drones. There is one final hidden message you need to find in the game marked as XXX to indicate you're fully done, but you have to really pay attention to figure out how to find it.

@perrin Super cool
Finally I managed to instal emulator and played your game. And it is awsome! The atmosphere is great and the gameplay if interesting. I didn't found final artefact but will come back to it later.
