Pack file is missing, the game doesn't load
I like what I read in the description, very original concept. I'd love to play it but as @scott-r-howell mentioned, the game does not start :)
I want to try this, could you please upload a Mac or web version?
Here is the error I'm getting to help you fix the packaging problem:
Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". is the .pck file missing? If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension)
use @sicosiber to ping me when you get the upload fixed, and I'll try it out!
@sicosiber @scott-r-howell @javasaurus Hi all, sorry about that. I reuploaded a fixed windows version. Thanks for giving it a go! @haokai-xu-1999 I'm working on a mac version right now...
@plexium-nerd I played it and I really enjoyed it! I think metal detecting is inherently fun, and something that people find inherently fun is at the core of every good game!
Here's my notes from playing for if you decide to go further with it outside of the game jam and are looking for any sort of player feedback:
- A shop to spend my money on would be really cool (detector range, visual indicators when I get close to stuff, giant circles that appear in the general area of where buried items are etc.) You already have a money system, so it seems like you had some sort of plans to add that anyway.
- You have a lot of funny old person dialogue where he's just talking to himself, and it made me want more of that, like maybe if you go talk to the old shop owner he could tell you extremely long winded descriptions of all the items or something (just a goofy thought)
- If grandpa reaches the end of the waypoints before the energy runs out, it would be nice to place new ones.
All in all, very fun game! Great job, especially within the crazy time limit!
Really cool entry, simple yet effective. Maybe add some upgrade to buy, and things to spend your money on. (more mouvement, better radius etc..)
Great jobs guys.
I enjoyed the simple mechanics although I was caught off guard with some of the items that were close to grandpa's starting spot! on my first blind playthrough, I only made about $1.15.
