Cool game like interface animations and stealth mechanics )

The main character is so cute! Gameplay is simple but fun, and the music is very relaxing [:

catakun 2024-10-09 09:23

I like the music And the main character it is a good game

lehmy 2024-10-09 16:44

The main character has a lot of charm; the walking animation looks like a cute waddle. Could be due to the simplicity of the game or just me, but I've noticed that I didn't bother to stealth towards the creatures, due to them running into corners. This is a thing that might need some adjustment for the next time :) Overall the game is nicely done, with nice music and graphics and it is really relaxing, great job.

gaalsien 2024-10-09 17:39

I really enjoyed the relaxing background music.

I love how the visuals of the game look—it reminds me of collages, and I’d love to see more games with this style. The character we play as, along with its animations, is very cute. As for the mechanics—simple but engaging- I like it. Well done!

vittima 2024-10-09 17:49

I especially liked the animations, they are simple but very funny and cute)

I liked the animation of the main character and the open world in general. The little creatures can be driven into corners very easily, but playing around with the stealth mechanics was also interesting. Very relaxing game.

@lehmy , @pessamin

We appreciate your feedback!

It was the first work of our artist, and i think as well that he made a great job!

You are right with the creatures issue, it appears due to the size of the map, it is just too small, also the whole trees are counted by the AI as unwalkable, so from the base to the tap they cannot walk. This issue appears due to the work of the AI in unity with 2.5D (it doesn't work in general, i used a custom solution), I just couldn't modify the walkable area of an object, it just counted as a whole unwalkable. The only solution i knew is to make some other objects with invisible sprites, and place them on an object where is should be not walkable, but it was going to take too many time. To make it go throw the trees i think wasn't going to be good as well so it's like lose-lose situation.

@dan-nik-sg Yeah, we also had a time crunch in the end. ^^ Probs to the artist, well done delivering this as their first work here, and probs to the whole team ofc. Just a short idea: Next time, you could just let the creature go into hiding if you are too obvious, that would prevent the whole corner Problem because the player couldn't chase something hiding. Another option is to let them despawn and respawn after a while.

The concept of Courier Cat is super charming! I loved the cute little main character and the relaxing vibe of the game, especially with the background music and visuals. The stealth mechanics add a nice touch, though I found that I didn’t really need to use them since the creatures would sometimes get stuck in corners. Still, it was fun experimenting with sneaking up on them. I think the idea @Lehmy mentioned about creatures going into hiding could be a great way to add a bit more challenge and solve the corner issue. Overall, it’s a cute and enjoyable game, with lots of potential for even more polish! Great work by the team, especially the artist on their first project!

Nice game, I really like the atmosphere. On the other hand, I picked up all the creatures before seeing the quest panel. A little feedback to indicate that there are contracts available, like an exclamation mark, might be nice. As well as indicating which elements can be interacted with. (And a little contract to let you know how long it took to complete the contracts, I think that's nice too).

Good game in any case!

stormburpee 2024-10-10 11:17

The main character is adorable, and the stealth mechanics add a nice layer of fun to the gameplay. However, I found that the creatures often got stuck in corners, which made the stealth aspect feel less essential. The visuals and music are really charming and help create a relaxing atmosphere. It would be great to see future updates address the creature AI to make stealth more impactful!

I love character designs and animations! Cute and relaxing game. It's not challenging but a nice break between other hardcore jam games. 😁

I think you could have made map boundaries watery, so the map would be an island. It's just weird to see straight lines on the edges of the map.

@alexandru-barbanoua @rachjn @catakun @gaalsien @ecaterina @vittima @stormburpee @pierre-marie We appreciate your feedback, and will consider it for our next games! (;

@woona We appreciate your feedback!

You are right, it's a good idea to make map boundaries watery, but i didn't think about it at the moment sadly

The image made my day ^^

The character designs are super cute, and the vibe is super chill. Other people have given feedback on the visuals, so from an audio perspective:

-Consider having the music volume get quieter during stealth. If it did happen, it was unnoticeable to me.

-Consider giving the bees and toadstools some walking noise (like a buzz or a plop).

-As a stretch goal, consider giving each of your three biomes their own sort of ambient noise (birdsong in the woods, gust of wind in the meadow, and the sound of waves on the beach.

-Consider giving the music a B section. It got to the end of the loop and I was ready for a second melodic idea to come in. Also work to make the loop more seamless. :)

While that feedback sounds mostly negative, it's really only because y'all have done some great work otherwise. I had fun! Thanks for making it.

kirill228 2024-10-16 14:29

Chill game, but i don't feel any goal. I think there must be reward for completed quests. And sneaking is useless

weird-orb 2024-10-17 02:45

Really like the animations and overall art design! Catching the creatures was fun, but would have appreciated a more solid direction or indication of how to progress through the game. Nice work :)
