Unfun mess of a game without a single ounce of Innovation, unrelated to the theme, worst graphics of any game to come out in 2024, audio on vacation. Humor also on vacation, and the game is a mood, unfortunately not a good one.
10/10 would recommend - A Totally Reliable Rating

Nice work. It was too hard for me to reach the end but impressive anyway. Could use some tweaks to movement speeds and jump arc etc. to make the controls feel a little less slippery.

The platforming part is fun, although I'm unsure what I would do about the boss. Is there anything else you can do aside from moving and jumping? I was trying to press different buttons, but none of them seemed to do anything. Some sort of hints for the controls would be nice.

It is an idea with potential. It just needs a little more work to be a good game. Good job!
For your first platformer, this is extremely impressive! Super well done! Also are you South African by chance?
Anyways, the controls are very powerful, so you have to be very precise with the jumping. But after you get the hang of the movement, this becomes a very fun game to try and speed run!
I agree with @karln and @sariiger - edit your page here to include the controls. **Movement using arrow keys, and jumping using spacebar**. The fact that you can **kill the rats by jumping on them, and the dark spirits by running into them**, too. Your boss is an absolute menace! I am determined to defeat him!

A bit rough to play to be honest. Controls are hard to get because your character feels a bit heavy to manoeuver while also being too fast to respond to players input. It's a bit sad because the level seems good for a 48 / 72h game, but it's just to hard to advance with the controls.
Here are some advice to make your game more enjoyable : - Try implementing controller support if you do a platformer. On Godot it's actually quite simple, you basically only need to add an input in the Project settings on your actions. It's even half made ; you can already move the character with a controller, only not jumping.
- Give a bit of friction and acceleration to the controls. Character goes from 0 to 100 in a frame, this is a bit too fast ; if you want a game without any of this, slow it down a bit.
- Give info to the player. For instance, I don't know what is the blue flame at the begining and what I must do with it, I see it kinda follow me around, that I can jump on it, but I don't know how to move it or anything.
Other than that, it's still a good attempt for a first jam, there is enemy variety, a seemingly long level (I couldn't beat it), and again, a challenging and interesting level design. Congrats for finishing it in time !
Nice work for a first platformer.
@karln thanks this was our very first time making a game. i will tweak it to feel more natural. thanks for the feedback
@sariiger no we only could figure out how to make our character do automatic damage and do damage by jumping on them
@baluj thanks we will definitely keep on working to make it feel alot more entertaining to play
@footlettuce yes we are south african. i am glad that you have enjoyed our game so far,it will only improve as time goes on. thank you for giving feedback
@littlegamer I understand the controls are very odd and difficult to get used to. i am working on making it feel more natural in a sense and as to the controller support if it is as simple as you have mentioned then i will definitely implement it in this game and future ones. thanks for the feedback i appreciate it
@s1l3jamal thanks, it took a lot of work. i Hoped you enjoyed it
