the download is big but its worth it

AWESOME GAME
Very nice visuals. Did you make the assets yourself or where they downloaded from somewhere? If they were external assets you should opt out from graphic ratings. The main menu looked really prefossional. I absolutely loved the idea of vegan zombies threatening wife's meal. The controls felt a bit laggy and I had lots of problems with the grab mechanics. I either grabbed a wrong thing or had troubles when trying to aim for the bucket. Also zombie's hit detection bugged for me and I mostly shot through them without harming. Loved the humour and the initial idea!
Pretty fun game, zombies colliders seemed a bit buggy but I think you did a great job with the theme!
Very fun game, the hitbox are quite wanky though
Obviously very nice visuals, but feels a bit like a standard engine template with some assets from the store thrown in. Probably still was a lot of work, but hard to say how much of the wow effect is really thanks to your own efforts
Hi everyone, thank you for the amazing feedback. The gore system is made from scratch. The zombie skeletal mesh asset was from the marketplace. The main problem we faced was retargeting the skeleton for the zombie mesh we got from the store. Somehow, it got triangulated and messed up the hitboxes a little bit. Since the game jam had a time crunch, we decided to use the zombie asset instead of using the mannequin with excellent hitboxes. Probably stuff for future update. Every other system including lighting, LOD etc is made in house. We intent to add a tooltip to our grabbing mechanics so that players can see exactly what they are about to grab. We really appreciate the feedback and will try to improve it in the next coming weeks. Please let us know how you feel about having a day and night cycle and a daily survival statistic. We hope to make this into a build/survival emulator in the future.
The zombies tearing apart was sensational. The voice acting is also very funny.
Great game
"Get away from Betsy, ya damn vegans!"
There are a ton of things to like about this game, silliness being chief among them. Betsy, a cube-making wife, stands resolutely in the center of the initial spawn location demanding vegetables from her husband, unnamed. The husband is tasked with facing down zombies of rabbit-level benignness to bring sustenance to his ailing wife. The real enemy in this game is the goddamned bucket. Click on a veggie to pick it up? Nope, you clicked on the bucket. You set the bucket down slightly askew? Now the bucket's lying down forever, and Betsy's doomed to shuffle off of her mortal coil and meet St. Peter emaciated and agitated.
1. The graphics are fantastic. That being said, the spawn cube seemed kinda out of place. 2. The voice prompts were hilarious, I'll admit to playing a few times just to make sure I'd heard all of the quips. 3. The simple instructions at the beginning of the game 4. The zombie animations are fantastic - I've never been able to convincingly rig up an asset, these were awesome 5. The lighting and general *ambiance* was so complete it was difficult to remember that this is a game jam game
1. I didn't venture much farther than the pumpkins because I wouldn't have had enough time to get back and save Betsy 2. After the second play-through I got the feeling that failure is a given and the real fun is had from messing around in the level 3. Would it make more sense for Betsy to start dying after I left the cube? To give me a chance to read the instructions?
Thank you for the game, I'm looking forward to seeing what else you make!
I lost my wife at the end. twice. My GF wasn't so happy about it either, but it seemed like something else was bugging her. lol, really got a chuckle out of this one haha! This was damn impressive for a for such a short developing time! It is a bit clunky here and there but the idea stands solid as a proof of concept. Seems like the most important mechanics are in place. The highlight obviously are the humor and the audio comments hahaha. Good job :D
A couple changes I'd recommend would be to lock the rotational axis of the bucket to prevent it from becoming unusable and to boot you back to the main menu after game over as opposed to closing the game (unless that was unintended).
We listened to the community feedback and have released a feature update taking it into account. Note that this patch is not applied to the game jam game. We have included the following in our latest patch:
-Dead-eye effect on Middle mouse -Added ammo system and ui -Added ammo pickups -Ammo hover effects (bobbing and rotating) and sfx
-Also fixed ammo spawning and bobbing into the ground (now gets zombie death location (x and y), and spawns it at a constant Z so it never goes into the ground even if the zombie dies crawling. -Added intuitive ammo and clip system -Adjusted sfx volumes -Increased reload speed
future updates are in the works as we speak. Thanks for supporting and rating our game. We hope to get even more feedback from the Ludum Dare community as it is a very important learning experience for us. Thank you everyone and hope to hear a lot more from you!
Interesting game, I liked the voice lines a lot and having to actually pick up vegetables and put them in a bucket was cool. Game felt a little rough around the edges and very template-heavy, though
