What. WHAT? A **whole virtual machine** with some 2049 mind control/clone lore as a game? Now that's really unexpected!
Is that a Niko plush photo I'm looking at?
Thanks for the game. You've done something truly amazing.
It's a capture-the-flag type of game. As you navigate through an old-ish unix system you'll discover passwords to obtain further information. I could open the eml 3 and then stuck. The terminal displays random characters at random places, but I don't know if this is intentional or bug. The shell is kinda buggy; when command is not found, it doesn't recover from the escape sequence, and subsequent prompts are concatenated. I successfully quit vim so I consider it a win. :) Overall, an interesting idea.
Thank you all for playing. I never intended for this game to be rated, but I'm glad a few people tried it.
Yes, it is a Niko plush, and yes, random characters were intended.
Really wanted to try this, but I just get this error: ``` Call to WHvSetupPartition failed: ERROR_SUCCESS (Last=0xc000000d/87) (VERR_NEM_VM_CREATE_FAILED).```
@python-b5 I'm not sure why it throws that. Are you on VB 6.1.26 or 28? 28 was released only 2 days ago so I haven't tested it but it shouldn't have broken anything. I tested it on 6.1.26 on both windows and linux host.
Maybe this: https://superuser.com/questions/1502529/call-to-whvsetuppartition-failed-error-success-last-0xc000000d-87-verr-nem-v
@alaah 6.1.26, I believe.
Unfortunately I'm out of time to actually play it, but I'll give this a try later if I can get it working!
An interesting project, though I personally don’t really get it. On the first attempt I typed in cat, after which it froze and I had to reinstall. Then I installed it again, this time I couldn’t type in the password for whatever reason, no text actually, in the password section. I had to reinstall one last time, and this time… I still couldn’t type the password, but after I managed to hop in after spamming random characters, I think it was a failsafe feature or somethin.
Anyways once I got in I looked around a bit, and honestly props, I don’t know how much of this you made but if you did the commands and stuff it’s impressive considering it’s under 3 days. I read the emails, tried out the commands, and ultimately I didn’t really figure out how to get the passwords for the emails so I called it a day there, typed in cat again, and that was that.
A rather ambitious project, don’t really get it as I ain’t really fluent with terminals [I know what you said but… I wanted to give it a try], but props for making something, and something unique too!
