Probably needs some instructions about how to play and your goal. I had a screen full of apples and I wasn't sure what was going on, I gathered I was supposed to keep heading downwards into darker areas, eventually I got into a hole with no exit (I guess that's a gameover?).
Fighting was confusing, my character appeared to jump around almost randomly, i'm guessing maybe it was enemies pushing me? But maybe it was a bug, kinda felt like inputs were being ignored or delayed or doubled up sometimes.
Love the art (i'd vote up mood if that was an option), the cat player character is super cute.

I also had some similar issues with what felt like the character being pushed around or the screen filling up with apples or skeletons like, walking through walls, but considering its a proof of concept when putting those bugs aside I really did enjoy just kinda wandering around exploring the caves and the buildings! If it were more complete I think I'd really enjoy it as a proper roguelike, the art is really cute and the space was fun to explore, falling down a pit and having the cavern below fade into view or finding a building nestled in a chunk of otherwise awkwardly steep mountain was a nice experience.
This could literally fit on a floppy disk, I love it. The visual style is really striking, and is in my opinion the best feature of this game. As you said, it seems some features are missing to make this a fully playable game - not to mention the fact that in my first game I was trapped within three rooms, and on my second I received several hundred apples mid-battle and started spontaneously walking diagonally and taking damage. Still, all that being said, this seems like an early iteration on a promising game. And really, the art is great!

The sprite work is top notch. I'm glad this is a proof of concept because I desperately want there to be more. The cave element is wild. I love verticality in rogues and it's so rarely done, and this is done pretty well. I was only initially confused about to climb around. I'm going to keep an eye on development. Great stuff!

Usually when you go deep enough the game crashes, but sometimes you land in various levels of random tiles that look really cool!
Liked the art in this, thought it really embraced the old school vibe. Did have an issue where I ended up in a completely black screen before the game crashed. Also the addition of levels was a nice twist on the old roguelike and was a nice touch.
