I'm a sucker for upgrade-based games, but I felt a bit frustrated that you can play this one "perfectly" and lose a round because you run out of energy instead of because you didn't play right, if that makes sense.

@lsk sorry man. i might work on a post jam version where i take feedback from the comments, look out for it on my itch
Pretty fun but it ramps up too slow in my opinion.
Didn't take too long to finish, and it was enjoyable enough throughout the ride. Nice job!
I beat it! The progression felt super exponential, as one run I was making it just a few platforms, then with one more energy upgrade I was able to escape. (Energy feels like the best upgrade). Also by making it a unviversal cost for every upgrade, it encourages players to buy the same upgrade over and over so they get a "lvl 4" energy upgrade rather than a "lvl 1" speed upgrade. Maybe speed up the screen scroll when the player gets close to the edge of the screen as well. Overall great work! (and in pygame!)
@timujin glad you enjoyed!
@sugarsugarsugar thanks for the feedback!
I liked the sound effects the most I think lol. Only thing I'd change is that when the player runs out of energy, make him unable to move for a few seconds before ending the game, because I had a couple of situations, where I flew just above an energy orb and I would have fallen into it and recovered my energy, but the game ended so that was somewhat annoying. Other than that nice job!
I beat the game! I would also add enemies to make the game even harder, and maybe play around with the energy concept a little bit.
