Haven't seen many horror games so far, but I think this worked well with the theme! It was very suspenseful :)

Very nice idea and graphics, I liked it very much. But it was very short and easy though, I was expecting more obstacles, quests and more scary elements, as it was a horror. Now it looks more like a demo of a big game, which I would really love to play.
@ioan-pop Thank you!
@valisse21 Thank you! We are thinking of maybe making it into a bigger game after the jam or atleast an update to make it how we wanted to but didnt get to because of the time limit
because this game is a horror it deserves a separate like) but it would be great to scare in some different ways (i'm trying to make no spoilers) like spooky atmosphere which makes player to imagine horrors on his own or deception of expectations to play aroud with saspense. but still, you did it quite nice
@ihor-hrynyk thanks for the feedback! :smile:
Short but creepy, I have been in tension during the gameplay. The audio is very good. Good job! P.S. My game is a little bit creepy too, If you want to try it: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/keeping-it-alive-1
This is the first horror game i've seen in the jam! Really jumpscared me the first time haha. Perhaps an indicator of where the enemies are from time to time might be great.
i like it!
I liked the game but I don't know why when I reached teddy I just died but its a good overall ;keep it up and good luck
The graphics are beautiful.Great word!😄
Good game !
But I think there is room for improvements on the audio. First things would be to increase the volume of ambient sound a bit and add a music
Awesome game! It has great graphics and audio, and a good sense of tenseness. Although, my one complaint would be the movement; it is a bit floaty and the player often gets stuck on steps and stairs, but other than that, a very awesome jam entry! Great job :) !!
@gao-ming @gamegenesis @snowirbis @adriankrawczyk Thank you!
@lykawolfie @rasheed Thanks for the feedback, realised now that we dont really indicate that when flashlight power goes out thats when the enemy comes/die
This was nice!! I'm gonna be honest, I usualkly run from games with jumpscares because... well... I'm a chicken hahahaha But this was a nice game!!! I enjoyed it a lot!
*SPOILERS..... I THINK* Took me a while to realize that I shouldn't let my flashlight off for so long, I thought it was random at first LOL Still, very nice!
Good game, you can finish it. It's very lineal. If you die when the battery is empty maybe it's not necessary to be able to turn off the light, but I like the game. Well done!
@dedicave Thanks for the feedback! we added that feature at the start thinking we were gonna use it but never did but we will probably remove it if we do keep development after the jam!
@starlet Thank you! haha ya we didn't really explain about the flashlight as well as we should have, haha.
Cool game, I like the jump scare. The only issue I found was that jumping up the stairs was difficult, otherwise nice gameplay. Nice work.
@projectaroid Thank you for the feedback!
Neat enough, has that spooky vibe you're going for. Seems like I never hit the jumpscare though. Jumping felt weird especially with the stairs, probably should have just built it like a ramp. Otherwise good job.
Not a bad entry! Has a really good atmosphere, I think just knowing there's a jumpscare but not knowing where can put the player on edge right away!
But, there's a couple ways you could improve it post-jam.
- Try to fix up the movement, it felt pretty loose and floaty, which wasn't a huge issue, but the big one was jumping. If I have to jump up stairs, I don't want to constantly be getting stuck on them. It just kills the pacing and atmosphere.
- Personally I wouldn't have the flashlight battery levels be a UI element. Sounds like bad design, but in horror you wan't to make things abstract enough that players are never quite sure, but still give enough info for them to have a little bit of understanding. So, with the flashlight, maybe have it flicker at certain percentages, with the flicker getting faster the less battery you have. This way, while the player can't put an exact number on it, they can tell by the flickering that they need to find a battery soon.
- Give the player something to read! A big part of horror is the writing - you have to get the player invested in the story and trying to figure out just what on Earth is happening. That way, when the jumpscares hit, it's not just some scary face and a sound effect, it actually means something, and thus hits harder.
It's a cool little horror experience, but I'd love to see this expanded a bit! You don't get a lot of 2D horror games, so it'd be nice to see this one become something great!
@tom-robson @joemag Thank you for the feedback! If we do continue post jam we will take probably implement it!
good mood, and atmosphere. I felt down between scenes :(
@daniil-tcyvakin Thanks! Also which scenes did you fall down between?
I felt right on the start, after first time then camera position changed. mb smth went wrong with colliders
@daniil-tcyvakin hmmm ill look into it if we decide to continue working on it post jam that didn't happen with playtesting. But thanks for the feedback!
The game looks really good. The only thing for me is that flashlight doesn't have almost any mechanic to it, hence the ability to turn it off does not have any necessity. But overall, really good job!
@subatiq Thank you for the feedback!
