Good start on a game and the mechanic of losing a key per death in interesting. Wished inventory stuck around for each level.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD43 → Key Break

@dragonfrontier Yeah I had a save system all working, and I used it to save the level, health, etc. I just needed to serialize my Item class but I unfortunately ran out of time
Neat for what it is. Without critiquing too much for what might just be unfinished intentions. I feel like the sacrifice mechanic doesn't really work if it renders the level unbeatable. Even with the other keys I don't really feel like I weigh my options that much to warrant having the mechanic. Feels like reducing choices than any kind of strategy enhancement.
Would have been nice to be able to hold down the key to move faster. Couldn't really tell if I was attacking or being attacked, being able to go through enemies confuses that as well. Not that I expect rogue type games to have animations but stronger feedback is what I'm getting at.
Cool game, I'm like sacrifice controls mechanics, but it's pretty over when you can not move. Random level generation is also looking cool. If you have some time please check and rate my game too. 😉
I have some bugs (like I can't rotate using shift). But I am waiting for ready version! :D
@kirke it's not bugged but my fault for not explaining it well. You have to hold shift and then input a direction to rotate to that direction so you are facing the enemy when attacking them. Unless I'm wrong about that too and it really is bugged but thanks for the feedback!
Interesting game! I kept forgetting about the rotation mechanic too and kept running in circles until I died. Maybe add some soft of collision where you'll turn to face an enemy if you move in their direction? For those of us that didn't quite clue in XD. Also, in the later stages, it means that mistake won't pin you between two enemies and cost you your life.
