Music and sound are home made. The trees, terrain and character controller are all part of Unity Standard assets.

Enjoy!

Source code will be posted soon. Although the game is under 20 meg, the project folder is over 200 meg because of the 'bonus' material that ships with Unity's Standard assets.

I set up a web based port. The Frame rate is janky because the just the way WebGL works (or I haven't worked out complete optimization yet). But feel free to download the Windows full version and play it in all its glory.

Enjoy!

Probably I'm using it wrong, but I was never really able to find more than a few of the crystals before I died...

Anyway, the music is nice and the graphic style looks funny.
Nice work!

Hi Crosstales. Thanks for playing.

It was briefly mentioned in the instructions but to gain more crystals you have to leave them out and they will multiply :).

Thanks again and have a great day!

I thought that audio and video were great, especially the use of the sheep theme. The balance seems off though.

The problem is that shifted sheep chase you. This means that anywhere you drop diamonds, a sheep will immediately come along and eat it. Winning depends entirely upon no sheep coming after you until there is a good field going with well over 100 gems in it. Whether or not that happens appears to be pretty much random. I don't feel like I have any control over the outcome, because I am using a pencil to fight a tidal wave.

This was quite enjoyable. Especially liked the sheep textures :P

The sheep looks nice, but it's really hard to collect gems.

pestelcrew 2016-04-21 08:54

Didn't get how to defend my gems. But music is nice)

Audio is a bit repetitive and graphics ara a bit messy (but just a bit, I know they are the standard assets, and the home made are not bad)

However, there is something I think you must to see: http://imageshack.com/a/img921/1512/VvXIzL.jpg

When I released that last bunch, they were 276, I don't know how many they were at the end because when I was collecting them back I accidentaly stepped on Shamus.

Objective of the game is to defeat Shamus. The game that way is good. But what I found the best of this game is farming jewels and protecting them on a large 3D environment. As you can see on the image, it is really really addictive. I think that you should develop it further, but focusing on the idea of farming and protecting, because it is funny as hell.

Good job!

i found it a Little slow in the browser but good work and dont stop working in your Project! i suggest u to not use to many standard assets cuz thats maybe what making the game going in the browser

johnasebok 2016-04-22 11:34

Woah, nice job AnaGF! Sorry its not mentioned in the instructions but once you get 100 gems you need to run into Shamus to defeat him. I will add that info to the instructions.

Thanks for playing :)

Very innovative game, nice audio - never get old. Solid entry. Congratulation on first Ludum Dare game! And please finish it, maybe add different type of crystals with different grow rate and spawn quantity, buildable fences or something to that regards.

adsilcott 2016-05-02 19:20

I really enjoyed this! Some unique game mechanics (protecting a resource from your own dumb team). I also like the sheep transformation when you change them back. Farming was fun. Good job!

johnasebok 2016-05-07 03:17

Thanks for the feedback MintArcade and adsilcott.

I do plan on adding some polish to the game soon and perhaps change the view from first person to third person so you can see if a sheep is sneaking up on you.

@MintArcade - BUILDABLE FENCES!!!!! Fantastic idea, perhaps add a Shepard to the field whom you can cash in crystals to purchase perks like fences or cattle prods :).
