The graphics are phenomenal! I loved the animations. Also the level seems to be huge and well-constructed.
However, the game suffers from a number of strange bugs. Cloning myself only made the skeletons hungrier. How am I supposed to kill them or defend myself? Touching many of the walls teleports the player to a random location, often killing him. I couldn't see a difference between taking the item and not taking the item.
While not a bug, the one-hit-kill made it difficult to explore.
Also, I wonder what made the game take up 75MB? I am not familiar with Game Maker so maybe that's ok.
As I mentioned, your visual style is wonderful! I hope you continue to make games and I'd love to see a less-buggy version of this game as well. Good luck!

*The Web link is the latest versions of the .exe*
I have add a new version with some correction. Spellcheck and no more buggy collisions.
In my haste to submit my game in time, i have made some newbie error with improvements.
So if you want try a much more playable version, try the web link.

I won't rate this because it's VERY badly broken for me... at first I couldn't click on anything, then I could, but by clicking in the wrong place, then gameplay ran at about 1 FPS so I took about 5 steps, then quit. Looked promising.

No need to rate, I'm aware that the first version is a disaster so i made some corrections.
Just download the latest version via the web link and tell me if you like.

Throughout, the animations were the clear highpoint. Smooth and beautiful, they were really nicely done.
The gameplay itself though seemed to miss something. I don't know if it was lack of information or if you just didn't have the time to put it in, but as has been mentioned I don't know how (if at all) I'm supposed to deal with skeletons. I saw that they would slow down (to eat?) when grabbing a clone - maybe the intention was to keep the player constantly on his toes, able only to delay the enemy, not destroy them.
Likewise I didn't know how to deal with flames or solid gold blocks (gooold! Must have!) - especially the female NPC trapped behind flames was intriguing and I had no idea how to get there :-/
Still, graphics were top notch and it did seem like you were headed somewhere interesting with the game itself.

The screenshots look promising, but I didn't have the patience to reach them as the game was running at like 1fps on my machine.

Looks very nice and starts out neat. However every 10 seconds there seems to be a huge lag.
Is it possible to fight the enemies at all?
