| Apr 8 17:26:02 | Marble Race To Hell | ♥ 1 | Won in 01:18, yay. I love the graphics, the scenery, and that you made the camera always look where it should be. First few minutes I wasn't sure what is the point, the obstacles and edges were easy to avoid and the descent seemed infinite. Then I remembered to try speeding up with W and that created some high adrenaline fun with jumping after hitting obstacles, and also accidentally made me discover that simply cutting paths by falling down is the best way to win, though it still took me a few deaths. It was interesting, good job. | |

| Apr 10 10:58:24 | 41h 20m | Light - Ludum Dare 57 | ♥ 1 | Ah, now that's one proper Ludum Dare art game, it was really deep. And, idk but the poem seems original as well? I couldn't find reference to it and didn't spot any clarification. I tink you are green to continue the development, but honestly I don't see it a fully featured game, rather a short experience with more polish that you didn't have time for. For example, I think the generic 3d-clipart person can remain but the anchor should go full 3D with heavy, rusty feel to it. And of course other graphical details but I wouldn't go overboard, you probably shouldn't want AAA look. There are also playability issues to tinker with - to name some, the part with projectiles is too hard (I never managed to pass) and it is easy to get lost when out of cam like when pushed by the vertical fish. You don't want such hinderence to get in the way of people experienceing your art (which is why getting the games-as-art balance right is hard). Anyway, thanks for making this. |
| Apr 12 07:46:55 | 44h 48m | The chronicles of Mr. Marmo | ♥ 1 | After a curious flop that was PEPE's wall of pride, Wouter is back big time and reunited with Lizz yaay, this game was lovely! The only complaint I can have is getting hopelessly stuck in a corner wall on levels 1 and 2, other than that this game is well beyond average of what a Ludum Dare entry can deliver. It is a combination of collection, exploration, pipe dream-style puzzles, and a bit of a flappy bird that works very well. It must have taken quite some discipline and experience to program this without dying (or at least I wish you a speedy recovery if you did). It was exciting to realize from the very first level that what seemed to be a secret area is in fact one, promising further exploration opportunity throughout levels. The graphics is enchanting, beautiful shapes and pastel-like colors, even the background which seems just a single-color gradient but features graininess that adds some magic. Excellent work, thanks for making this. |
| Apr 17 21:11:03 | 133h 24m | Depth of field | ♥ 2 | Let me just say, the effort you have placed into "mute sound" and "mute music" options was wasted one because both are superb. The game is good, I was gonna say the level design isn't great but I found myself playing until solving the game so some good calls must have been made there. In overall the game is a charismatic example of created-by-humans. |
| Apr 17 21:22:27 | 11m 24s | Interstellar Dragon - Into the depths... of space! | ♥ 1 | So cool that you can just relax and play this with one hand while enjoying the 2D art and that adorable ship. Congrats on finishing your first compo game, and you even made music! Looking forward to seeing some of your progress in future. |
| Apr 25 10:01:57 | 180h 39m | Upstream | ♥ 1 | Amazing work, and the idea to interpret the theme in a sort of Heart of Darkness way. I loved that NPCs were getting increasingly insane. But the curse of making an interesting, playable game for LD is that flaws will be criticized more, as people get more annoyed, so here is my critique :) The choice of cursor color was awful. Of all the things that I can forgive if they become confusing in the messy fight situation, not knowing where the cursor is isn't one of them. Paired with sometimes not knowing where my character is, this made the game much harder than what it should be. I simply had to give up level 4, not because of level's difficulty but because of the feeling that the game should be blamed for me constantly failing to not die. Sad, because simply changing the cursor image would make the experience so much better. There is also the unavoidable political issue, I understand you just wanted to create cruel world vibes but with polarity going on today the game will most likely attract the fascist type of crowd. Still, pretty exceptional work for a LD game, it will stick around in my memory for a while. |
| Apr 30 14:25:37 | 124h 23m | Party Crasher | ♥ 2 | Please accept my apologies, I have failed to play your game during the voting period. As usual with your games, I end up surprised that I managed to finish it, as they seem so alien and mysterious at start. A bit harsh to get a full reset on death, it took me 3 retries with dying of hunger in 2nd retry just a step away from food while in the final phase (shield). It is an optimization game that is hard to get right on the first try without a lot of luck. It was a lovely audio visual experience that I won't pretend to understand the meaning of, and there is probably no need to, I was both the princess and the prince and overcame the challenges, yay. |
