May 1 23:26:20 RIP: Ridiculously Injury Prone ♥ 1 I definitely agree with a lot of what the other comments are saying. This has the potential to be a pretty fun rage game. There's a lot going for it. I especially like how there's a very clear goal to get towards. It's funny, because normally you wouldn't think an inverted camera controller would be very fun to play with, but the strange controls actually add to the game a lot. If the controls were really easy I don't think it would have been as fun. I didn't have a problem with the sensitivity because I can change the dpi on my mouse very easily, but I can see how somebody else might have problems with that. Anyways, the biggest problem was the lack of control I felt I had. Other than standing on the grass right next to the road, there wasn't much I could do to avoid obstacles. I was either too slow, they came from behind, or I just straight up couldn't see them until it was too late. Also there were a few times I somehow ended up on top of a house or was in the sky really, really high up. Definitely some potential here and was a pretty fun experience overall! May 1 23:39:01 12m 41s Boxed Out ♥ 2 This was a nice little game! There's a lot that's really good about it. The atmosphere is really cool and I love the art style. If I had to give some constructive criticism, there are three things I would change. 1) Make the hitboxes slightly bigger 2) Create a countdown before you start playing so you can plan out a path before you start 3) I really really really loved the way the background art looked and wanted to be in that world. I feel like it would be so cool if I was actually moving around the city. Anyways, great job on your game!
May 2 01:20:01 1h 41m Punchline Crunchtime ♥ 2 This might be the funniest game jam game I've ever played. That intro genuinely put a smile on my face. The boss character was really funny. The jokes in that intro definitely *delivered*... Anyways I loved this! And it's great too because it's short enough that it doesn't overstay it's welcome. Fantastic job
May 2 01:33:59 13m 58s Darby's Delivery Service ♥ 1 This was a neat little game. Pretty simple gameplay concept, but it works pretty well. At first it was a bit confusing to figure out which letter went to what box, but as I played more it became clearer. The one thing I was very confused about though was what I was supposed to do to beat the game. Was there a certain amount of letters? At one point the score at the top was over 60 and nothing was happening. Anyways, pretty cute game. Decently fun for a little bit.
May 2 19:03:04 17h 29m Parcel Pursuit ♥ 2 Great job on the game! Everything is so cohesive and looks really nice together. The UI is fantastic, and the transitions between the main menu, game over, and game are spot on. The only problem I had was with the double jump. It was very annoying to get the timing of it and it led to me getting hit quite a few times when I felt I shouldn't. Other than that, amazing job!
May 3 19:13:45 24h 10m Love at First Slice ♥ 1 This was really great honestly. The story was a lot of fun, and the gameplay did a pretty good job to pace it out. You had some really good humor there, and everything was very well put together. I only have one question... Did I get friendzoned at the end?
May 4 19:05:28 23h 51m Westwick Street ♥ 1 Honestly this was really cool, but I have a major problem and that was the fact that I really didn't know why I would die sometimes. I read the comments and stuff and apparently stepping on the sticks had something to do with it, and I'm imagining running around also had something to do with it too. Unfortunately, when I played I had no idea that this was the case. If there was a better indicator or your noise level, or even just some explanation saying what you're supposed to avoid other than a very generic text at the beginning saying to be quiet, that could have been nice. Anyways, the mood of this was fantastic. There were some parts, especially during my first attempts where it was genuinely really creepy. The music and sound effects seemed to fit extremely well and really sold the experience for me. I think if you fixed the gameplay issues I had, this could be quite a cool game jam game!
May 4 19:19:41 14m 13s Egg Panic ♥ 2 This was actually so good! I am super impressed by this. The audio, sfx, graphics, and gameplay all flow together so well. The controls also felt fantastic. Whatever you did there worked sooo well. I really don't have any criticisms for it at all, only suggestions. What if you utilized the egg throwing/smashing mechanic and made the eggs you throw and miss an obstacle? Or what if the chickens can also destroy the eggs that are on the ground, which would make it more intense and force you to try to get the eggs much faster rather than the only priority being dodging the chickens. Really there are a lot of stuff you can do to make the gameplay a little more nuanced, which I think would serve it well. This was a great game and I loved the Link Between Worlds gameplay, but with extra steps!
May 5 01:57:55 6h 38m Man with a Van ♥ 3 This was actually so cool, but honestly a little bit hard for me. I was trying to frantically plan out the most optimal routes while my time on the boxes was ticking down and people were getting angry. It was a little bit stressful, I think mostly because the map was so big that I couldn't really see where some of the packages were going. Very difficult to plan a route when you don't know where the box is supposed to go. The graphics and sound were really good, I especially liked the water lol. Did you write that shader yourself? Anyways, great job and a really cool concept!
May 5 02:13:00 15m 05s Hooked on Data ♥ 1 I tried really hard but damn this game was just really difficult. The grappling controls and depth perception kinda threw my off which was unfortunate, because the vibe of the game was super cool. It has a really cool synthwave atmosphere that lends itself very well to this type of game. I think it has a lot of potential, but there are just some things that don't lend itself to being very friendly to the player.
May 5 02:31:01 18m 01s Beat Boxes ♥ 1 I had a whopping score of -150 on my first try 😎 43,880 on my second try 44,390 on my third try Honestly this was a really fun game! The graphics look great, the music is fits well (even if you didn't make it), and everything just feels good together. The controls are very responsive which is nice as well. The only problem I had was the fact that although they were responsive, they felt quite janky. For a rhythm game, this is an extremely important aspect that can not be overlooked. Luckily it wasn't enough to ruin my enjoyment of the game, but definitely something to watch out for next time. Oh also that stupid bridge/interlude part was way too hard. The rest of the song in comparison was a cake walk Overall great entry!
May 5 04:02:50 1h 31m Dear Yekate ♥ 0 This was pretty neat. I was a little bit confused as to what was happening, but it was still a fun little experience, especially the intro and ending cutscenes.
May 5 04:13:55 11m 05s Solar Sandwiches ♥ 2 This was a whole lot of fun! I was drawn into the game by the artstyle, which was done very well, and stayed cause of the leaderboard. I didn't do very good, but that's okay. My only critiques are what other people have said. The game just feels way too out of control. I know I have control of the rocket, but dang it just does not feel nice to control it with how slippery it is. I also hated when my rocket would go offscreen and I just had to wait to die. I wish I died when I hit the edge of the screen. Other than that, great job!
May 5 04:33:08 19m 13s Flooding Fisherman ♥ 4 As everybody has already said, the art style is really good. I loved the premise of fishing, that was also pretty awesome. However, I struggled to understand the mechanics. I didn't have a problem catching fish and people and stuff, but when it came to the rocks in my way I really had no clue what to do. There wasn't much of an explanation that told you how to do anything. I also wasn't really sure what my goal was or what to do with the people and fish once they were on my boat. It was a bit confusing. It was still a really awesome submission though, so great job! EDIT: just realized you wrote down in the description on the LD page the different uses of the rods. Apparently I didn't read far enough to see that. I don't really know if that's my fault or not... generally I think a game should be able to explain itself without the need for an explanation outside the game.
May 5 04:54:03 20m 55s Western Fury ♥ 1 Omg this was amazing. I loved it so much! Like genuinely this is the most fun I've had playing a game jam game so far. The cutscenes were on point, the slow motion was great, and the physics were great. There were some things that were a little janky, especially regarding the physics objects and damaging and stuff like that, but I can easily look past that. After a while, even the art started to look really good. All I have to say is you did such a good job on this! It was so much fun to play.
