LD46 — Keep it alive

Untitled Plant Game by ponywolf 2020-04-21T21:16:30Z

I love plants and when I saw them combined with this aesthetics, I couldn't just pass this game by. Graphics are gorgeous, the palette is finely tuned and fits the overall cuteness of this title (no pun intended). The controllers' presentation is so clear and easy to read - I can't thank enough for that. I could say goodbye to the walls of text, finally!

Gameplay is great and entertaining - dialogues are funny and enrich the production. I only had some WSAD weirdness at some point (tried to go north but started going the other way round) but apart from that I had solid fun when playing it (and killing villages just to keep my plantie happy).

The game is complete and fun, I have nothing to complain about! Wonderful job! :seedling:

I fell in love with graphics immediately. Pixel but dreamy, and the palette is fantastic. I loved the concept, it's a fun variation on tower defense genre. Animations are fantastic and you did a wonderful job here!

The first thing that wasn't quite right for me were the controls - when I see a platformer, I instinctively smash space to jump, even if I know that I need it for picking materials. I tried going with `e` but that wasn't it. I managed to build some towers and they were effective but I had to explore a bit to find the "canons" to put then on the top. It felt slow a bit to me + didn't realize that my battery can die (but I can just blame myself for thinking this way).

Still, I played till the end of level 3, so I really enjoyed it! I think it'd only need a couple of polishes and I would say it's a full-fledged game. Thanks for such a cool game!

A Cozy Night In by AkwardWhale 2020-04-21T00:43:44Z

This is an extremely cosy experience - I can't imagine I kept playing it after spending whole game jam on pixel art! Love the music.

Disco Lets's Go! by ariake81 2020-04-21T00:36:32Z

I had a blast! It's pretty short but entertaining. The tiny details made me appreciate the game even more - converting people to disco was fun.

The visuals are wonderful - highly polished, consistent and animations are very well done. I had a great time but I felt like the level is pretty empty - tuning up the level design would make this game perfect (I mean it). It's very intuitive to play, the usability is on point - that's the hardest bit to get right and you did it. Great job!

Flippy Fish by Doot 2020-04-24T21:12:11Z

This is my favorite game from this jam. You won't get two identical sequences of attacks - the replayability of this game is amazing! Wonderful graphics, nice audio, fun graphics, you have it all covered. Great job!

Ps. I suck at this game but I still enjoyed it, will come back and try to improve my score

I know I'll echo other comments but the graphics are just lovely. The game is pretty challenging but once I got the controls right, it was pretty fun. Great work!

Wow, we got so many comments over the night! Thank you all so much for taking your time to comment our game, especially for kind words about our graphics. It was my first time doing pixel art and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you @noucake , @ul0n and @tomyomy! thanks.gif

_I definitely should go back to playing games instead of Aseprite_

@muchobestostudio thanks for trying your luck with our game! I agree, we found out about not-suitable-for-long-gameplay sfx too late in the development so that's why it's still there. We'll pay more attention to it next time :raised_hands:

@tomrafferty that's a pretty good score, congrats! :bird:

I got 1000-something at best. I just found out that a tactic with avoiding pigeons for a while in the beginning and then getting them in one place (_ekhmThrowingBreadekhm_) is pretty efficient, I wonder how you did you get your score.

First Love / Late Spring by Lateralis 2020-04-21T20:25:22Z

The aesthetics captured my eye immediately, I'm in love. The concept made me play your game - it's a pretty interesting variation on the theme.

That's a shame I can't play your game - I managed to start one conversation but the game kept crashing - mostly on incomplete swipes (couldn't get them right, I'm sorry!) and when I run out of the conversation partners. The only other comment I'd have is the size - font is pretty small even on FullHD screen (not event mention 4K) and I had a hard time reading it. Still, it's a great job, keep it up!
