LD46 — Keep it alive

Broken Threads by Jeremy Ryan 2020-05-11T17:46:54Z

Definitely 5 for mood. The ending is memorable for sure, but I don't really think the game needs it. Also, since player can't die before the last battle, maybe you could include some kind os scoring in the dialog? Like the total bullet that player had block.

So I tried both versions, I think the movement feels too rough for me. You should try to increase the initial speed and maybe adjust the gravity. Also I don't quite understand the symbolism in the game. The blue bird is good, but what does the fire guy represent? Good work tho, hope you keep improve the game :)

@gustavo-christino I didn't realize that the green thing is damaging me. Maybe add additional feedback? I think the color is quite misleading tho for an enemy/obstacle, you should make it more threatening. Also the first WhatsApp's position is quite strange. I don't think it needs to be placed behind player like that.

So I think what makes your game interesting is the cloud mechanic. Definitely should design your game with that as the core. Maybe different type of cloud, another type of interaction with the environment, powerup for the cloud (like spawning wall of plant wherever the cloud rains on for certain duration). The fact that player couldn't directly control them is something that fun to explore.

Another thing to note in the current version is that the other trees kind of distracting me at first, because I thought there is something that I can do to them.

Also please add some kind of feedback whenever our Tree is attacked. Minimap might be nice to have but I don't know if it fits your game.

Overall this is a nice entry to the jam~

@n-o-games that's actually a good idea haha

@huvaakoodia wow, thank you for playing both version. It's nice to see someone took their time to get both ending. There's no extra ending for sacrficing all of them right now, I've planned to, but haven't got the time.

Also thank you for the detailed feedback. Some of them, like the previous day action for character, is not implemented just because i'm lazy, lol. I should also added multiple selection like in your Cake God simulator (love the humor). As for the feed menu, I'm still struggling with that. I'm thinking to show all action button (Feed Fruit, Feed Meat, Sacrifice For Food, Sacrifice For Fuel) on each character's panel. But it might get too cluttered. I didn't think about toggle principle before, i've updated the game to improve the UI a bit, so now the food/sacrifice selection is not gonna be reset if player select other character while the window is open. And I think I've managed to highlight the goal of the game a bit better now uiUpdate.PNG

@gustavo-christino I think you miss some interaction. The UX and the goal of the game is not quite clear in the jam version. I tried to fix it in the post jam.
