It’s nice to see another Godot user! The theme implementation is great, but the controls are a bit hard to handle. It would be amazing with some further polish.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD59 → Asteroid Escape

At first I did not realize the controls were waiting for the earth signal to reach me to start moving my ship and was very confused about why i couldn't stop my turning, once I noticed the timings though I was much more easily able to control the ship and had a lot of fun maneuvering around!
That is probably the hardest game i have ever played. I love a hard game but I cant see myslef getting better at this any time soon. I dont do well with delayed controls, it would be perfect for me to practice this skill. I would love to complete this game but it will take me many years because i would have to cool down for a week after every few tries. You have made something great, if anyone has any videos or streams of completing this, i would love to see it.
Thanks! I sadly didn't get as much time as I'd have liked due to other obligations but it was really fun! I'm glad you liked it! I intend to work on it a bit more in a separate branch. I did accidentally leave the difficulty a bit high as I was rapidly testing it right before submission. I wish I'd had time to make a main screen with a selectable difficulty haha.
I was pretty terrible at this game and was just spinning nonstop into asteroids. Some sfx would help communicate the crashing into asteroids a bit. Coold idea!
The main idea is good, but movement is so slow/so fast. I was trying to press keys fast and it wasn't working, also i tried to press it slowly but my ship had super slow speed(
@deraxus, yea it's definitely tricky. I've had the most success with tapping the keys for brief inputs and waiting a second for it to take effect and repeating. It quickly gets out of control if you press too many inputs too rapidly because of the delay
The time delay from giving commands was great. I really liked the theme of controlling something from earth. It reminded me of what the Mars rovers needed. The velocity meter and direction gage was a definite help. I was able to go to the left to exit the field and then shoot down. I don't know if that was intended, or if I took an unintended shortcut.
@Tsaot, anything like that is intended. The whole point is to escape the cluster of asteroids that you start in the middle of and to reach the predetermined destination. It's totally acceptable to escape via any direction into open space and then circle around to the destination
