You can't replanish your health and getting the logs into the campfire seems pretty difficult too. I think increasing the players speed would make the game more intense and fun to play

jan-pieter-inghels 2020-04-22 13:21

@teawhydee Thanks for the feedback! The difficulty has been a point that's been raised before, so I agree with you. Increasing the speed could've made for fun situations too!

Thank for the game :) Do you a Lumberjack Tycoon in Roblox? I love it and love your game for the same reasons. Particles and sounds make me feel using a chainsaw in reality, but all real trees are safe :)) Wish you the best of luck!

It's a fun concept but I agree as well that the player becomes too slow way to quickly. I also had difficulties dropping the logs in the fire without hurting myself at all, increasing the throw distance would really help make easier to keep the fire going without damaging yourself every time.

Pretty solid game. I need to agree with other players about losing health, it's too fast. And also there's no option to recover it.

Simple and fun game. Hard to throw wood into fire, but in general game works well.

anrqangel 2020-04-22 16:49

Great concept, great delivery, found the controls a little difficult to get used to, but all in all good work..

bigquacko 2020-04-22 16:58

Neat little game, found it tricky to throw wood into the first but overall I had fun with it.

jan-pieter-inghels 2020-04-22 19:51

@gamescodedogs @darkmax14 @kantal @jonhg @anrqangel @bigquacko Reading some of the comments above, I realise that I never made clear that you could HOLD the mouse button to add power to your throw. I'm gonna do an update on the in-game instructions tonight, to make sure all players know that you can throw wood from quite far away.

darkmax14 2020-04-22 19:58

@jan-pieter-inghels ah that would explain why I kept losing while trying to stoke the flames, the default chuck distance is so short you're practically guarenteed to die using it . Really cool game though, I do like the frantic run around to the trees when the fire gets low

jan-pieter-inghels 2020-04-22 20:05

Feel free to give the game another try using the hold button as intended, it's a lot more fun that way!

jan-pieter-inghels 2020-04-22 20:48

@gamescodedogs thanks for the sweet feedback, appreciate it! :)

Really cool game! Here is a video of me playing your game:

https://youtu.be/BkhdHDJN1XM

It felt a bit weird that you could only fill the fire twice before you died, at least I could not find out how to survive when putting wood in the fire :( So I would either remove the health or make it so that you can take damage from the trees falling instead of the fire.

Otherwise nice sound and graphics.

jan-pieter-inghels 2020-04-23 18:23

@svarttand Thanks for the video! However.. You seemed to miss a key gameplay point here, which is that you can throw the wood from very far away if you hold the left mouse button to increase your throwing distance. You don't have to die, ever. I have to ask, did you encounter a bug where you couldn't throw any further while holding the left mouse button?

svarttand 2020-04-24 12:22

@jan-pieter-inghels Yeah it might have just been me not realizing it was a possibility... sorry about that. Now when I played it again it got a lot better. I feel really bad for not noticing this very obvious piece of key gameplay so I made a new video of me playing it. Now i just had trouble throwing it but practice makes perfect.

@svarttand Hey, don't be sorry! You were not the only person who didn't try to hold the mouse button, so it's clearly something I should make more clear in the game itself. Thanks for the video again, I really appreciate it. Your score was pretty good aswell :) Could I maybe use your video to add as gameplay footage for the itch.io page of the game?

svarttand 2020-04-24 15:13

@jan-pieter-inghels sure you can freely use it.
