The concept had potential, though the physics were a little weird. I kept getting told to shoot stone walls and such, but I couldn't get the character to do so.

Yeah the physics is really wierd. :) But you have a moving character, levels and collision detection, so it's up to you at this point if you want to make this game better, or create a new one from scratch... you have learned either way. So, keep it up! :)
