Not sure I understand why I keep getting game over while wandering around. Dropping the cheese off in my box seemed to fix it. I love the artwork and animations and the feel of moving around! But the gameplay seems a bit lacking.

Yep, I had to few time to make gameplay pretty becose I had some business on my work this weekend. I've just added this text to description to describe gameplay:
All time you play you automatically eat cheese from box (1 per 10 seconds). Game is over if there are no more cheese.
You can found cheese outside on a floor and in the traps. Traps has two sides. One side catches your (and game is over). Other side closes trap and drops cheese from it.
Cheese & traps will spawn when you put cheese to the box.
Seems like a good concept but it was pretty difficult to make any progress.

It seems like the trap positions aren't in synch with the visuals, because I would randomly get game overs wandering outside.

Actually it's a weird-placed character collision object :(. May be it'll be better to use separate collision object for trap detection.
Too much way to die... Too bad... :/
As others have said, its very difficult to parse why you die when you die - some UI elements showing things like remaining cheese, or time until next cheese-eat 'tick' would do a lot to solve this

Loading time between the home and the big room was a bit frustrating. I like the way the mouse wobbles when you walk!

I don't know what is the reason of game over, but overall it's a cute game.
