LD25 — You are the Villain

DieCubesDie by Enneract 2012-12-17T12:36:00

My first thought is "Hooray, a Linux binary!". My second thought is "Eh? It's in a .zip file?"

The game's pretty challenging - especially with a touchpad - but a few times I did manage to block off the exit completely.

I'm on a 16:10 monitor so the text on the sides was cut off - if anybody else isn't on a 16:9 monitor, I'd recommend reading it beforehand.

This was pretty fun and very technically impressive. It's a nice mashup of tower defense and puzzle games!

Death by Tree by EdiiKnorand 2012-12-17T12:52:00

The README mentions SDL and SDL_image but not SDL_mixer and SDL_ttf.

The graphics were very charming, and the gameplay simple and intuitive (once you'd tried out both items). It gets very hard very quickly, to the point that I don't think any amount of skill would help.

Some sort of score system (or at least a game over screen) would've been appreciated - as it is, the game quits as soon as you die.

How To Be A Super Successful Politician by Scott Baker 2012-12-17T13:09:00

You say that this should have been a compo entry, but it feels a lot more complete than most LD48 games. In particular, the visual style is very coherent.

It's a shame that you essentially only ever need to use a small amount of the options (until it gets hard), but obviously it would be a lot of work to make all the different options worthwhile in different situations.

I had a lot of fun playing this!

What's the point in a web version if you have to download it and open the HTML page you downloaded?

The TIme Master by barret907k 2012-12-17T12:58:00

I managed to successfully install the game (with `adb install ludum48.apk). Unfortunately, it crashes very quickly on my phone - usually before I've even pressed 'play'. I don't feel able to rate this based on the six seconds of gameplay I was able to have.

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note II.

This is what gaming's all about. I had more fun playing this than I'd like to admit.

(I wasn't able to compile it from source - some instructions on that would be nice.)

You Villainous Person You... by Msquirrel 2012-12-17T22:41:00

Technically very impressive - I couldn't make something like this in 48 hours!

I'm not ashamed to say that I looked at map.png to solve the puzzle. Life's too short for maze games :)

Nosferatu Lurks by Princess Buccaneer 2012-12-17T01:50:00

The only remotely interesting thing in this game is dynamic lighting - but unfortunately I didn't have time to implement dynamic shadowing as well :( ho hum.

Oh, also, it has some very cheesy music! Play it just for that. Go on.

Splendorman by raubana 2012-12-18T18:40:00

I loved it! The controls could've maybe used some work (in particular, I couldn't tell when I was allowed to teleport or not, and I seemed to get pushed around by things for no discernable reason). But overall, it was very fun! The Let's-Play style screaming made me giggle!

We Drive Unto The Fortress by SmallDeadGuy 2012-12-17T22:33:00

Very enjoyable! A simple yet strategic game with a tiny bit of quick-time event thrown in too :)
