Nice and simple. I thought I had the game beat by trapping the ball at the top of the screen, but it eventually gathered enough momentum to escape my plan :)
The ball starts off very slowly, perhaps you could have increased the start speed.

Yes, the game glitches when you hit the ball with the top/bottom of the paddle, so you can just do that on the first hit and get it fast off the bat (pun intended).
Quil is by no means a game engine, so I'll add little extras in drips and drabs :-)
