@lululululu It was missing a DLL. I re-uploaded it.
This game looks so cool, I checked out the assets... ambient-village.mp3 is such a somber track, and the other music included is so incredibly heartfelt and sincerely full of just life and grief, I was blown away... I looked at the graphics files too, you know I couldn't get the game to run but wow I just could feel the incredible effort and care and emotion that was put into this game. Thank you for letting me experience what little of it that I could in the way that I could just browsing the asset files, you have my sincere gratitude. Well done, very clean looking game. Look forward to diving into the source someday maybe and trying to get it to run. There is even an animated video that looks so emotional, it really touched my heart. Thanks for sharing this game.
I couldnt figure out anything other than talking to the two people and getting trapped in a box randomly lol but the music was nice.
Overall: This game was interesting. I'm not sure I totally caught the overall story. its a 3d point and click adventure. It has a story that wants to be emotional and deep. I'm not sure it hit the mark in that regard but the audio was really going for it.
Fun: Not super fun, ran around until you find a thing to click and get a bit of story with it.
Innovation: 3d point and click. Wish the levels were bigger and more involved. Wish the story was more clear.
Theme: :x: I'm not sure how this fits with the theme of every 10 seconds.
Graphics: Very low resolution and low poly.
Audio: I enjoyed the music
Humor: No
Mood: No
My initial reaction to this game was fairly negative, to be honest. I left a review but I decided I needed to leave a proper review instead of just bashing. That is somewhat the point of these kinds of competitions.
The controls were a bit jarring at first. I wasn't ready to use the arrow keys to move. Not a big deal. I can move the mouse and the arrow keys. But with jump being 'J', that makes the game very uncomfortable to manage.
In the first play able screen, I found several issues. First, if you talk to an NPC from way too far away, the game soft locks. There are suddenly no people, houses, or even the ground to stand on. Also, there is nothing keeping the player from just running over to the edge and falling off which then you have to completely close the game, go through the dialogue again, and then you can play again. I had to do this multiple times.
The next screen, there is just a dark room and there is a cyan little thing hanging around me. I click on it. It sounds like maybe I hit it? I think? I keep clicking and it turns black. I walk away and come back and do the same thing but this time I guess the game ends somehow. I kept on clicking and the dialogue kept going. Maybe have some sort of indication that the game was over in some fashion. While I wasn't too clear on the story, at least allow me to try to consume some of it.
Going through the game file, I noticed a sizeable script of some sort. It looks like most of the time was spent on the story and not so much on the design. Perhaps you prefer to write a really long story over developing a game and mechanics? It looks like a lot of care went into doing that portion and then a game was somewhat developed around it.
Overall, I can't say I enjoyed my time playing it. I played it for a good 30 min to 45 to find what I could and see if I could break anything. I just didn't understand the direction I was being placed in.
Please keep making games and competing in these events. Hone your skills a bit further and I hope to see more in the future.
