I really like the idea of being able to place your own platforms, and having a "stack" mechanic! But unfortunately I think your scope was too big. The platforming itself lacks polish, and it can be pretty frustrating when the enemy bullets keep knocking you back. Also, the precision platforming that's required late into the game can be really annoying (mainly because whenever you jump, you can never really be sure how far you will go). Sorry if I'm being too harsh, I hope what I said was constructive! Maybe remake the game with a smaller scope and put a lot of polish into it, then it might be amazing! 😄
The mechanic of placing the block is cool, if the block gets placed. Not sure if the colliders allowed the blocks to slip into the platform but my tiles disappeared a lot in the beginning. I think the background could be a little darker to draw eyes to the platform a bit easier because all the textures were a bit much for me personally, but I love what you're doing with the game. So much implemented in 72 hours, good job!
@spoopsmcgee you have to click on an block sized open space to place a block , it was probably that. The area checked for colliders there is probably too big(it doen't really need to be as big as the block ,and I think its even a bit bigger) , and that was probably the problem. Also blocks disappear if they leave the screen, or if you click on them .
If I continue whith the project post jam I'll probably add something to show where you are going to put the block or something (or maybe not let you waste the tile).
Also btw It's probably not obvious but you can get speed buffs if you click on the enemies whith blue particles. And you can also pick enemy bullets and shot them back ,I assumed people would notice , but now that I think about it its actually not that clear.
