Thanks for the feedback! This was not only our first Ludum Dare, but our first game. I've had a few stabs at making a game, but this is the first time I've actually sat down and finished one! Learned a helluva lot, and had a great time working with Sher Rill (an amazing artist.. hire her!)
The game was intended to be difficult. The goal isn't really laid out terribly well... but you're supposed to collect upgrades, get more canons and more ships to help you battle the tougher opponents... unfortunately we didn't explain that well..
