The Elves end the Shoemaker by Nora Shishi 2012-04-24T07:17:00
Technical:
Works well, interesting use of the mouse as a controller, crisp and responsive movements.
Game itself:
LMAO that's hilarous! What a silly idea! I love it!

+ really nice graphics, especially the characters look good, not to mention the intro screens
+ the game mechanics work well
- the controls feel kind of weird and the action is incredibly slow - dunno if that's due to the university box here or if that's full-speed-as-meant-to
Alltogether it's great for a first game here :-)
Could you also compile for linux64, please?
The game is real funny, I like the graphics and the controls are crisp and easy.
Two points I want to mention:
(1) NEVER map the main action key to 'z' without providing an easy way to change it. Many keyboards have QWERTZ or similar layouts.
(2) You would have made live easyer for most people if you provided a batchfile to start!
For people running into trouble:
Grab the version matching your system, unzip it and make sure you have Java installed.
To run, open a terminal to the file directory and point java to the native runtime libraries provided with the game, or ,in other words, run
java -Djava.library.path=./ -jar playgame.jar (*NIX)
Instead of ./ you may have to enter
- the absolute path on MacOS - at least mine sometimes gives me trouble when I try to run with ./
- Djava.library.path=.\ on Windows? Just a guess, though, you'll have to try that on your own. Shouldn't be too hard, though.
...obviously the term (*NIX) is NOT part of the program call, I just wanted to make clear it runs flawlessly like this on *NIX-boxes.
Hey Ados,
would you care to explain the goal of the game? ;-)
After all those positive comments I'd love to play the game, unfortunately it won't run under WINE because it quits with an "off screen: invalid drawable" message. What is it supposed to mean? Maybe I can hack around...
MAC / Unix users: simply start the .exe with WINE, works to the end (don't press F4, though).
Nice mood, really scary. But I'm not sure about the theme ;-)
Hilarious and well done. It's great fun to play, although it's a bit cumbersome with my one-button-mouse.
Works flawlessly with WINE.
