Well, the game is fun! I dig the graphics of balls as a snake, and the little obstacles . Sometimes I try and make two turns a bit too fast and it only recognizes one - does it buffer the input at all or just read it when it's time to enter the next 'cell'? Also either a difficulty level or a gradual speed up would be cool.

It reads the input when its time to enter the next cell. Buffering the controls was one of the things I considered. Thanks for playing my game!

You surely wouldn't get a star for innovation, but hey, Snakes (or Caterpillars, whatever) are always fun! I ate 130 apples before clashing myself.
Somehow I liked the angle you chose, and both the green obstacles and the fact of having many apples to pick at once were great simples ideas.
Be careful about the input: for some reason sometimes the control just stopped responding.
I had to make a lot of failed suicide attempts before dying: most of the time, the caterpillar turned by itself. How frustrating.

Worked well, except for some weird input lag where it would take a second for key presses to be registered. I managed to eat 114 apples before I managed to get trapped.

Liked the concept, works well as a time waster game.
